AUTOMATIC EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION (AEOI)
The AEOI is a standard defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Develompent (OECD) that stipulates how the tax authorities of participating countries exchange information with one another regarding the bank accounts and securities accounts of foreign taxpayers. To date, around 100 countries, including Switzerland, have decided to introduce the AEOI standard. Switzerland has already signed a declaration to introduce the AEOI or an AEOI treaty with various AEOI partner countries. The State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) publishes an up-to-date list of Switzerland's AEOI partner countries on its website. Further information on the AEOI can be found on the SIF website.
